Tony is one of our longest standing supporters and was an employee of Chartwell Financial Services when our Charity Chairman, Lord MacLaurin, was Chairman of the Company. Through his involvement with the Lions Club International, Tony has been able to spread the word about Hope for Tomorrow nationally.
Collectively, Lions Clubs have raised over £40k towards our Mobile Chemotherapy Unit project, and this certainly wouldn’t have been possible without Tony’s hard work and dedication.
In Tony’s own words, “I have been a Lion now for twelve years, including a two-year term as Vice-District Governor, and a one year term as District Governor of District 105W, covering the West of England and West Wales. Hope for Tomorrow came to my attention in 2008 when the Charity was nominated as my then-employer’s Charity of the Year. The more and more I came to learn about the Charity and its aims, the more I thought that our Lions Clubs should be involved in fundraising for their Mobile Chemotherapy Units.
I am deeply passionate about Hope for Tomorrow, and was absolutely delighted to become one of the Charity’s Ambassadors. It is a great honour, and one that I am deeply humbled by. If we can help alleviate the stresses of travel for those having to go through Chemotherapy across the United Kingdom, then I feel it is imperative that we do so.”
Tony received his Ambassador award from Lord MacLaurin, during a ceremony held in October 2014.
