An Evening with Sir Stirling Moss & Friends

Over 300 guests gathered at Lord’s Cricket Ground for “An Evening with Sir Stirling Moss OBE and Friends” to celebrate one of the greatest motor racing drivers of our time.

Guests included Martin Brundle, John Watson, Tony Brooks, David Piper, Stuart Graham, Tyler Alexander, Chris Rea and other friends from the world of motor sport. Following a three course dinner, Jeffrey Archer conducted a live auction which raised a superb £39,000 for the charity. The top bid of £11,000 won 2 Upper Class tickets to New York to attend the opening night on Broadway of Jesus Christ Superstar followed by the after show party, donated by Virgin Atlantic and Sir Tim Rice.

The main event of the evening saw Stirling take to the stage, where Simon Taylor conducted an interview covering Stirling's career and more recent events including his retirement from competitive racing in June and the 2011 Formula One season. This was followed by a Q&A from the audience, which included a homage to Stirling's win in the Mille Miglia, with the guest calling it not just his best ever race, but the best race ever.

The Silent Auction, which preceded dinner, raised over £20,000 with wonderful prizes including two tickets to the Augusta National Masters Experience in 2012.

The evening raised a total of £70,000 for Hope for Tomorrow, with the funds raised going towards building a fourth Mobile Chemotherapy Unit.
