We were delighted to have the rare opportunity to host an Opera Recital at Highgrove. A huge thank you to Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall for allowing us to hold this important fundraising event on Friday 4th November 2016 at Highgrove.

Entertaining on the evening were internationally renowned musicians Julia Kogan, Coloratura Soprano, and Professor Karl Lutchmayer, Concert Pianist who performed from Julia’s new-album: ‘In-Jest’ Comic Art Songs from baroque to contemporary.

Champagne was served on arrival and Karl played in the background to start the evening’s proceedings, before they were ushered into the stunning candlelit setting of
The Orchard Room to watch the Opera Recital, followed by a specially chosen menu for dinner.
It was a small, intimate evening with beautiful surroundings and guests thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

Julia Kogan had kindly offered her services complimentary to us, to which we are extremely grateful.

We were proud to have been granted permission to have our latest Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) present at the event for guests to step on board and see the work of our charity. A number of guests stepped on board the MCU and those who had not seen it previously were amazed at the design, functionality, size and what it can provide for patients.

Christine announced that she would be handing over a new Generation 2 MCU to Dr Sean in the New Year to mark our 10th Anniversary since the launch of the world’s first MCU in 2007.  This is to replace ‘Helen’ who is currently working as the Gloucestershire MCU and is going into semi -retirement next year, to be used as a reserve MCU when needed. He was shocked at the gesture, to which Christine reminded him “don’t drive it home tonight”!

The event raised a staggering £19,000 through the silent auction and guests were thrilled with their winnings which included a Classical Italian weekend in Lisbon, a Luxury stay in Soho and a Table for Ten at our fundraising Le Mans dinner at The Hurlingham Club, London in May 2017.
In addition to these wonderful prizes, the table centrepieces were up for auction; the bottle of wine along with the silver engraved holders, which had been purchased form the official Highgrove shop.
