Wiltshire Mobile Chemotherapy Unit

  • Wiltshire Unit

Wiltshire is a large, predominantly rural county. The county lacks a single, central, urban focal point so the population is served by 3 main hospitals; the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, the Royal United Hospital in Bath and Salisbury District Hospital. This means that many patients have to travel a long distance for their care (NHS Wiltshire & Wiltshire Council 2010).

The Wiltshire Mobile Chemotherapy Unit is named 'Kayleigh', in memory of a young girl from Chippenham who sadly passed away from cancer. The Unit was launched on Thursday 3rd May 2012 at Salisbury District Hospital and will be operated by Salisbury 3 days a week and Great Western Hospital Swindon 2 days a week.

The locations that the Unit will visit will be known shortly, so please check the website for updates.
