Wiltshire Mobile Chemotherapy Unit

  • Wiltshire Unit

Wiltshire is a large, predominantly rural county. The county lacks a single, central, urban focal point so the population is served by 3 main hospitals; the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, the Royal United Hospital in Bath and Salisbury District Hospital. This means that many patients have to travel a long distance for their care (NHS Wiltshire & Wiltshire Council 2010).

Our fourth Mobile Chemotherapy Unit operates throughout Wiltshire and was named 'Kayleigh' in memory of a young girl from Chippenham who sadly passed away from cancer. The Unit was launched on Thursday 3rd May 2012 by Charity friend Murray Walker, at Salisbury District Hospital and it's operation is shared each week between Salisbury and Great Western Hospital Swindon.

Salisbury District Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust visit the following locations with the Unit:-

  • Fordingbridge
  • Westbury
  • Shaftesbury or Gillingham
  • Ludgershall

Great Western Hospitals Swindon NHS Foundation Trust also operate the Unit at the following location:

  • Savernake, Marlborough

Get Involved

Our Mobile Chemotherapy Units need sufficient funding to stay operational. As we are completely reliant on voluntary donations, we are asking supporters to help us hit our £260,000 target, to cover building costs and maintenance of each Unit for three years. There are so many ways to get involved and support this project. From coffee mornings to sponsored walks, we will provide you with all the materials you need to get your event underway.

Still not sure what to do? You can always give us a ring and discuss what event may be right for you.

It's not just fundraising that's important either. We are looking for Community Champions to spread the word. If you can spare a few hours to attend events and deliver leaflets, we would love to hear from you.
